Playing a shooting video game can actually teach a person to shoot a gun more accurately. Researchers had college students play different video games including a shooting game for 20 minutes then had them shoot a real gun at a 6-foot-tall mannequin. Players who used a pistol-shaped controller in a shooting video game had 99% more completed head shots to the mannequin than did participants who played other video games-- as well as 33% more shots that hit other parts of the body.
